CasePoint. Affordable trial management software for trial
lawyers.
CasePoint, currently under development, uses Microsoft Office
and Windows SharePoint Services to provide an
affordable and easy-to-use trial management solution for small
trial law firms. Since CasePoint runs in a web browser, it is
accessible virtually anywhere. Creating an electronic case file
in CasePoint is a simple administrative task. CasePoint offers
many of the capabilities of expensive litigation management
solutions, using Microsoft software programs you already own.
Why CasePoint?
If you are a trial lawyer, you contend every day with
opponents who outspend and outnumber you. From their marble
fortresses atop the tallest buildings in the city, their legions
of associates and paralegals comb every paper you send them.
They seem to command every word of every statement, report,
medical record and document you produce. They have every piece of paper
in existence that is remotely related to each witness in your
case. They bombard you discovery requests that home in on your
weakest points. Some days it seems like they know more about
your case than you do yourself. How do they do it?
Defense lawyers use trial software. Do you?
The other side isn't smarter than you. They don't work harder
than you do. How do they develop such mastery of the evidence?
They use litigation management software. Packages like CT Summation
and LexisNexis Concordance. These programs can search the full text of
everything fed into them, and even have integrated OCR. Every
document can be "tagged" by issue or witness. And their search
capabilities are amazingly fast. Powerful software? Certainly.
Affordable? Licenses start around $2000 per user, and annual
support contracts add another $500 a seat. These packages can
manage thousands of pages of documents and transcripts.
